Thanks for also giving it a Mac & iPhone review. The web/security-cam seems quite pricy compared to other WiFi webcams, but then I’d have to research if those will work as a babyphone (with software supporting it), and thanks to the great reply’s here this seams a sure shot. Definitely will consider the Y-Cam now.

Just a quick update on iPhone apps for the Y-Cam. Y-Cam now have their own app although it is video only, while you can also get Baby Monitor HD which is expensive but gives you audio too.

That’s an awesome tip, Andrew – thank you!

I’ve just paid my 59 pence and within 2 minutes I have Henry’s Webcam streaming live to my iPhone in a nice widescreen aspect and without having to type in my user name and password every time.

Unfortunately the software is a little flaky and it loses the stream after a couple of minutes (although it does seem to come back eventually), but hopefully they can resolve this with an upgrade. It would also still be nice to find a solution that can stream the sound too, but you can’t have everything I suppose!

Great write up.. Have to say I agree it is a great toy … I mean baby monitor. On the iPhone compatability I did find a useful app that allows you to link to the stream directly. Try Smartvue which is 99c or 59p. Map your ycam as follows and you have a full screen link to your baby:

Http://[user]:[password]@[ip location of webcam]/stream.jpg

Eg
Http://admin:1234@192.168.0.5/stream.mpg
